It is amazing to me to see how my husband interacts with his new German friend, Charlotte's fiance, Gerd. He's like a different person, like the person I've been missing for a year and half since we've been back here. He's animated, makes jokes, laughs out loud and seems like he's having a good time. When we're around Americans, he's more likely subdued. There are a few guys here that he laughs with when we bump into them, but we don't really just hang out with people the way we used to. I really miss that. But somehow, it's not working for us to get together with people.
